What Is A Hatchling?

A hatchling is a baby! Hatchlings are limited with how they can participate, but if you grow them up, you can do any prompts and events with them. Only certain species are available as hatchlings.

Hatchlings:
  • Cannot be traded or transferred until grown (UNLESS you purchased it as an adoptable, in which case it can be traded/gifted/resold)
  • Can only be used in hatchling events and prompts until grown

Make it Official

Once your design is finished, you'll want to get it approved. Info below!
If you need help, you can note the deviantart group or ask the #help channel in the Ranebopets 16+ discord.

Here's how to get your first free MYO (make-your-own) hatchling ticket! To get and use one you must be a FTO (first-time owner, which means you haven't owned any ranebopets before.) If you are an FTO, you will have the green FTO stamp on your profile.
Picture
1. Once logged in, Get your free golden ticket from the MYO shop
2. Go to your Inventory. Click on the ticket, select its box to checkmark it, and under Use Slot click Open. It will be sent to your MYO slots.
3. Submit your design for approval - this guide tells you what to do. It's a little wordy but you'll use these same steps to submit other MYO's in future. How to submit your design

IMPORTANT: You can only convert the ticket to a MYO slot if you have the green FTO stamp on your profile. You will lose this stamp if you aquire other ranebopets so be sure to convert it asap.

Growing your hatchling

Hatchlings can't be traded or enter events until they're grown. To grow your hatchling,

1. complete one hatchling growth prompt!

2. Design what your hatchling looks like all grown up. Check the "design" section at the bottom of the corresponding species page: Bokkudo, Bettabo, Draphibi, Trabble

The design rules for Grown Hatchlings are:
  • Markings: can be changed completely.
  • Colors: At least two of your colors must stay the same- the third can be changed completely if you like.
Any number of new colors can be added.
  • (If you want to change all of the colors completely you can get a potion at the shop)
  • Features: Can be changed completely but must stay within the common/standard tier of the hatchling's species, unless you have an exception or trait item.

Other Hatchling Info

Design Canon
The hatchling does not have to be the "canon" baby version of your character- Once your character is grown, you're free to draw different canon possibilities for your character's appearance through its life stages if you want it to look different from how your hatchling looked.

Trading
MYO hatchlings are unable to be traded, however you may set up a trade preemptively. You will need to grow them up, either with a design by you, or the person you're trading with, and attach a growth potion to your design update.

About doing prompts

You can do the hatchling prompts with a ranebopet that is not currently a hatchling - just draw them as a hatchling!
