Trabbles

Intelligence Level: Dogs | What they sound like: This

Trabbles are odd creatures who may resemble penguins at first, but they are actually mollusks with a stretchy outer shell that can split in two to reveal its mouth. Their insides are subspace, a dark endless void - they can fit an unknown amount of things inside, and it's not certain what happens to things in there or how the trabble derives sustenance from them, but trabbles are able to store things in there and retrieve them later.

Anatomy

Trabbles have a soft outer shell that splits down the centre to reveal its mouth. They are incredibly stretchy and puff themselves up to show off. They do not have teeth- the mouth is instead lined with villi, soft finger-like protrusions that help move food, similar to the underside of a starfish.

Inside of the trabble is a subspace void where they can store things for an indefinite amount of time, even living. From the inside, it looks very similar to looking out into space, complete with stars. Trabbles have a tongue with four extensions, two eyestalks and two sensory/olfactory nubs. Trabbles generally have poor vision, to see they may walk around with their eyestalks poking out of their mouth, but most see through their eye holes from the inside when their mouth is closed.
They have fur of varying lengths- for most of them it's very short and soft but may form tufts, ridges or crests. Trabbles' bodies are stretchy and durable! They can puff themselves up and don't get hurt easily. Like cats or water, they will take the form of any container they're placed in.

Body Types

Trabble come in a wide range of shapes and sizes! Body types do not have rarities so you are able to pick whichever you like as long as it stays in the general trabble shape range (see below) While trabbles do not canonically change body types, you are able switch between them for trabble characters without needing a change potion or approval.

Variants & evolutions

Pterabble

Pterabble are a subspecies/variant of trabble. They are longer and fluffier than standard trabbles and can fly! Standard trabbles can possess a collection of these traits but a true Pterabble will have the signature legs, wings, tail, crest, and neck all together.

Trabbowl

Trabbowl are a subspecies/variant and appear around the seasons of Auter and Winty. They can be identified by their distinct facial markings similar to a barn owl. Trabbowl have a variety of body types and most can extend their legs if they need, and can also fly.
Their face opens in a way somewhat different to regular trabble, but continues down the side of their body.

Trabbowl features include....
  • Owlface
  • Trabbowl tonguehead
  • Medium-large wings
  • Triangular body & fat nub tail

Troubbles

The truth about Trabbles is that they’re actually colonial organisms (diviniforms)  that link together to form a larger body, but during the interdimensional collision event that scattered them, they lost the instinct for how to fuse. This is the reason why they feel so lost from each other and have a hard time communicating, because they forgot how to join up to become what they're meant to be.

A few trabbles joining together is called a Tangle. When enough trabbles join the tangle, it can form itself into a Troubble.
Troubbles are enormous and have the ability to levitate and fly. Like trabbles, they are also very stretchy, and are most often seen floating around or levitating in their flat form.

Hatchlings

Trabble hatchlings are small and round.
